Very clean. Well heated. Staff spoke english. Location is ok, Cheap cab ride to get around. Not noisey, not too sure about the party side. Decent matress-ish for china. Free breakfast is 3 slices bread, jam, 1 egg, class of OJ. All in all a nice place to stay.

Very clean, well run hostel. Security also good. In an excellent location near many cafes and small bars, also walking distance of a subway.
You can organise trips, including the Great Wall through this hostel.

The "hiking" Great Wall tour they organize is EXCELLENT, but be warned that it is physically demanding.
Only gripe that it was a 15-20 minute walk from the metro, but the hutong and surrounding streets it is located on have everything one needs.

We loved Downtown Backpackers! The free breakfast was great. There is a restaurantbar adjacent which we went to several nights. The staff even helped arranged a trip to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. They were incredibly friendly and very helpful. The location was great, within walking distance to the Forbidden City. There is a great ice skating pond very cose by. Overall a great experience. I would recomend it to my friends, and will definately be back again! Thanks!
