I went to Newport in the off season and was the only person in the hostel, which was a bit strange. It was a bit like staying with an aunt that you don't know. The rooms are clean though and the location is fantastic. The owner, who lives there, has lots of information about places to go and things to see and is overall very efficient. I would recommend this place.

This is the best hostel i've ever been at!!! And it's in a town you really shouldn't miss on your trip and optimal for a short hangout and relax periode between Boston and NYC.
The owner is like a enzyklopedia about the town and the going out places!! I could even join her and her friends by diner in a real local place. The hostel is very tidy and clean and located in the middle of the bar scene and very close to the town center.
Next time in the US I'll be there again!

Very small familiar hostel, so you are close to the other guests. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable about the area and offers free tours of the town. Too bad I coulnd't stay longer.

My boyfriend and I came to this hostel as a last minute arrangement. The hostel was excellent. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was great and the hostel is in the best location in Newport. The owner was wonderful. She was extremely friendly, made you feel very welcome and even offered free tours at night of the town. She also recommended the best places to eat and where to go. This hostel is well worth a visit even if it is just for a weekend break.

This is the best hostel I've ever stayed at. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Newport is a hidden gem, for which accommodation would otherwise be too expensive. Stay here! Especially good if you're travelling solo as it's so easy to make friends. Thanks Merillee!! -x-

Staying in Newport would NOT be the same unless you stay at the William Gyles Guesthouse. There is a distinct "shared house" feel to the hostel and the owner goes out of her way every day to make sure your stay is as much fun as possible. Not only would I stay in this hostel again, I would revisit Newport just so I could have the pleasure.
