great staff, helped me carry my luggage to the crossroads and get a taxi, and helped me out with paracetamol when I had a headache - I'm incredibly sorry to say I accidentally took the box of paracetamol home, please forgive me, I'll bring them back next time.

Was put in a 6-bed dorm despite booking a 2-bed dorm as advertised. Otherwise ok for the price. Bunks are HARD AS HELL though.

An OK place. Very few people there when I visited, just one other in the dorm. Location is about 20min walk to Koh San, 5min on the bus which run regular. Dorms are a little old...but for what you pay its fine.

BIYH is a cool little get away from the general Hostel. Close to Khao San Road and surrounding temples and attractions, this hostel is great for seasoned travelers. The dorms provide you with no mattress but with a sleeping mat on a bunk bed. The single rooms are apparently a lot better, but you have to pay around 10euro a night for a proper mattress and room. 5 minute walk to Khao San. . Staff were good, especially the gorgeous young thai girl at the front desk, so cute!

Locks on the doors and windows terrible, but otherwise very friendly staff. Not particularly close to the backpacker friendly area, but we loved the fact there were no tourists around, and actually could see normal life in Bangkok (nothing like Kao San!!)

The staff speaks no English, and so people from around the world are stymied and inconvenienced once the one person who DOES speak English goes home of the night. Of course that's when all the problems occur. And you can't cook here, they lock up all the plates so you can't even bring back take-away and eat it comfortably. Physically it's set up to be a great place, but it lacks the relaxed ease of European hostels.
