We had a lovely room 1st night but 2nd night we were moved to a smaller room with the bathroom outside the door which no-one was supposed to use but the manager did - we're two females and manager was a bloke (toilet lid left up!) so we didn't appreciate this. Breakfast was good & meals downstairs were the best we'd had in Thailand & you get a discount too.

very nice guesthouse! more like a hotel,staff so nice,owner and staff speak english,so no problems there. 5min walk to beach and very close to shops and bars. food is excellent in the restaurant at the guesthouse and 15% discount for people who stay for a few days. free airport pickup also,but we had to get a bus in the end and the owner waited an hour and a half for our delayed bus from bangkok! so nice! 30mins from patong. overall excellent,would definately stay again and recommend it!

The owner, Terje, goes out of his way to make his guests happy. Our room was beautiful and the food was fantastic.

This hostel is excellent! Our room (double private with bathroom) was big and clean. Terje, the owner and his staff were so nice and friendly, you felt like home. If we visit Phuket again, we will stay again at Southern Fried Rice.

the location of the shared bathroom we felt was inappropriate, right beside the computers. while I think the owner was trying to be helpful we found him overbearing and turning up in a towel outside the bathroom at 12am at night to make sure we got in ok did not help with our impression.

Proprietor isn't around much of the time so if you have additional requests or have questions, make sure to ask everything when you check in. Establishment is cash only, so don't forget to have money on hand for the balance. Rooms are spacious and location is very close to beach. Takes quite some time to get to other beaches though, and this particular beach area is very quiet even on Saturday nights.

The hostal is simply excellent,but the best of all is the owner.Terry,from Findland knows all about attention and he will make everything to make you feel like at home.The food is really good and you can try beat Terry at chess, if you dare.

We really enjoyed our stay at Southern Fried Rice. The guest house was clean and comfortable. We actually felt more like we were staying in a hotel than a hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful and went above and beyond for us Thanks for everything!
