After an eight-hour flight, I finally set my foot on the ground of Vilnius International Airport. The sun is sinking lower in the sky by dyeing it with a million of reddish shades. The hot air balloons are floating across the boundless horizon. After a few moments, I find myself sitting in a two-storey train. I am slowly heading straight towards the old town. A bunch of various niggling thoughts are swirling around in my mind: When? Where? With whom? At the train station the staring eyes of the Iron Wolf sculpture are spying me until my silhouette fades in the distance… After less than a five-minute saunter, I notice a tricolour flag with the same Iron Wolf image on a background of green, yellow and red. Yes, I have finally reached the destination point. JAMAICA. At the reception desk I was welcomed with a warm smile and a proposal to enjoy my staying at the most heavenly place all over the globe. I take off the backpack and cry out “VILNIUS, I AM HERE!” A freshening shower melts away my travel weariness. I am sitting here on the hostel balcony with a bottle of cold beer, pondering over the tomorrow’s day and the bicycles at the reception. The centre of Vilnius. On the right hand side there sleeps a marketplace patiently waiting for the traders to come. On the left terrace of the Mexican restaurant “Sofa de Pancho” people are enjoying their supper. The glasses are chinking. The sun has almost entirely hidden its rays by decorating church roofs with purple dabs.
