Why stay in the city.... when the countryside is SO AMAZING!Just 5 km outside of touristhotspot Yangshuo you will find the 'Giggling Tree', a very unique guesthouse. We cater to expats, families, couples and mostly foreign travelers. However we are not a (cheap) party hostel. In the tiny village of Ai Shan Men (Little Mountain Gate) we renovated traditional farmhouses surrounding a beautiful courtyard. After years of working as tourleaders in China, we (a Dutch couple with a son) found this beautiful authentic place and transferred it into the Giggling Tree. In April 2007 we opened our doors. All our rooms (including one 3-bed dorm) have a private bathroom with western style toilet. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated with woodcarvings, bamboo furniture and old Chinese advertisement-posters. Something completely different than other guesthouses. Many travelers/expats in China are delighted to come and stay in the real countryside. After traveling through many big cities people are hungry for fresh air and amazing views. From our terrace/relax garden you can view the Yulong river valley, fabulous mountainsides, rice fields, countryside living and a superb sunset. In April 2013 we have opened our outdoor swimming pool, so swimming with a great view is included too. Weather permitting the pool will be open between April through to October. Our Chinese cooks can make great western food and delicious local dishes. In the evening our courtyard is a perfect place to enjoy great dinners and to meet other travellers. In our DVD-room you can watch movies, read and exchange books, play games and use the internet for free. All common areas have wifi, as do most rooms. The best way to explore the area is to go slow; so either go hiking, cycling or take a bambooraft. Your adventure begins the minute you step out of the 'Giggling Tree'.In addition we can help you organize bambooraft trips, Chinese cooking courses, kung fu lessons, taj chi, calligraphy, private transport to anywhere, kayakking on the Li river, boattrips from Xing Ping and Yangshuo, daytrips to the Long Ji rice terraces and entrance tickets for several caves and the stunning lightshow on the Li River with 600 people performing a play directed by Zhang Yimou (director of the Beijing Olympic opening ceremony).Give yourself a break, get some well deserved rest in the Chinese countryside. Whilst travelling through China you probably already saw or will see many big big cities. This rural setting is a great opportunity for a change of scenery!
